| [29-Jun-2009] | He seemed so nice when we looked at the apartment and promised to paint and clean the carpets when we moved in. When we looked a the place he told us for an extra $200 a month he would put in a dishwasher. The first and second floor have dishwashers and were updated but he told us they rented for 1200$ a month and ours was only 1000$ a month, we later found out we were all paying the same price. After moving in it took him 2 weeks to paint, and even then they did a shitty job, and only painted the kitchen and living room not the whole place. Then when we asked about the carpets we were told we had to much furniture to clean the carpets. Which was absolutely ridiculous, and we told him we would move it all in and out and he still refused. We also moved in and there was a broken window, which granted anyone access to our apartment, and it took him about a week and a half to even look at it. And then he had to take the window completely cause he is incapable of measuring the window. We were left for 3 days with no window. And even then we had two other windows that were broken in some way and even after a year of living there they were not fixed. When the second floor was broken into we asked for better locks on our doors and the common doors and he did nothing. Also he tells you up front it is a 50$ fee for paying rent late, but wont ask for it until it is time for him to give the security deposit back, when he doesn't have any money to give you back. When it came time to move out we did everything he asked for and left the apartment in better condition then when we received it. We even cleaned the rugs. We moved out all the trash, and left nothing in the apartment. We were told we would receive our security deposit ($1000) back within 20 days. We have now been moved out for 29 days and have heard nothing. Another roommate was able to get in contact with him but he said we owed him money and we would get our deposit back when we paid up. First, only one of the 3 roommates owe any money (only about $200) and he is willing to pay it, but for a week now we have been trying to get a hold of him to work the situation out and he refuses to answer the phone, call us back or answer our emails. I tried to go to his website, but it now has been taken down.
I would not rent with him ever again. He is a true slumlord who is only in it for the money and will cut corners with repairs and upgrades to save money. |
