| [15-Dec-2017] | Rented from this landlord for two years. Always paid rent in advance or on time. Thoroughly cleaned apartment and moved out 3-4 days before lease was up. I kept my part of the tenant-landlord contract. During the two years I rented from Mr. Bhatti there were a few issues some of which were handled in a reasonable amount of time -others such as no heat in the middle of winter not so much in that it took 3-4 days for heat to be fixed.
Of greatest concern and one which I believe prospective tenants should be aware is the fact that 5 months have passed still have not received security deposit of $1200. Initial phone conversation with Mr. Bhatti went reasonably well in that he said he sent out the security deposit about 2 months after lease was up. When informed it had not been received he stated he would send out another check- that was three months ago. Since that time have been unable to contact him. I have called several times-all calls now go to voicemail, I have emailed and I have sent correspondence by postal service- no response. In viewing other reviews about this landlord it appears that this is a typical pattern of response/non-response. Cannot understand this lack of business ethic and dishonesty from a landlord who owns a number of properties in the Albany area. The Bhatti family also owns additional properties in the area I have been told- quite a legacy to pass on to future generations. Not certain if he specifically preys on college students who typically move out of the area after graduation and figure it isn't worth the hassle of going through small claims court. In any event I hope the review serves as a warning to others. I will continue to try and get the security deposit from Mr. Bhatti but am not optimistic that I will be successful |
