[23-Jul-2010] This landlord rented me a dirty duplex. There were still nails in the wall, nothing had been recently painted and the paint job(whenever it was done) was done quickly and sloppily. I had to clean grease off the kitchen floor, all around the base boards, in the fridge and the freezer and get trash out from on top of the closet before I could even move my stuff in. I documented everything with pictures and emailed him, he had his maintenance man(my neighbor, nice guy) come and quickly(messily) cover some of the nail holes with Spackle. Nothing was painted over. My rook leaked in several places for 1.5 years of my lease, my window has leaked the entire time and still does. My AC quit working in 2008 for over a week and has never worked properly. The location stays between 78-84 degrees during the warm-hot months and the gas heat does not heat the house. I spent the winters freezing and the summers miserably hot. My electricity bill has been over $200 , my gas bill was outrageous and I would not even say I have been comfortable at all. My outdoor storage closet had the roof caving in for months and I had to take my stuff out of there. The roof was also coming down right outside my back patio door and when it rained it was like a waterfall! His move out instructions are ridiculous, especially when the duplex was rented to me in the condition that it was. He is a horrible landlord, not friendly in any way. I feel that he is out to get money and is not worried about his tenants at all. Beware of renting from him... bad, bad, bad idea! I know that I am probably going to have to take him to small claims court, but I have documented everything from the moment I moved in. I am angry with my landlord...but that has been the case from the VERY beginning. Every bit of information in here is true. I just want people to know and understand so they don't make the same mistake I did. |
