[07-Sep-2015] The landlord/Supervisor can be a bit of a nuisance. Many problems with him showing up drunk, unannounced and at awkward times with no notice. Will often bring strangers and leave them on the property. Takes 2-3 days usually to mow the lawn and will come back and forth taking the lawnmower. Has access to the basement area and will use it often without notice. Will also try to borrow any tools you have in the basement and forget to return them. Bad repair jobs usually required the tenants to fix the problem for the supervisor. For example the repaired gate was hung upside down and then fell down, locks installed backwards. Any maintenance issue is fixed on their time, not yours no matter the issue. Constantly the air conditioner would go out and it would take them weeks to fix or the neighbors heat went out in the middle of the winter and took them 2 weeks to get someone to fix.They will say they will pay for the water bill but if there are any spikes in the price or use they will be at your front door demanding that you pay more, make sure it is clearly noted in your lease that you are not paying for water. They will try to have it written that the water bill is at their discretion and they can decide the bill amount. Make sure that all deposits, etc. are noted and you have copies kept safe.
The Landlord/Owner knows how to fix things and wants to maintain the property but is located in NY and relies on the supervisor son to do the repairs. If you call and complain too much, or have too many issues that need fixing they will evict you with 2 months notice. They don't want to be bothered and just want your money. |
