| [28-Jul-2016] Please do not rent here. I moved in the garden unit at the beginning of July. Landlord told me that in the 7 years he'd owned the property, the basement had only flooded once and that I wouldn't need to worry about that. The day of moving, the nonstop flooding started, rain or shine. Ground water and sewer water coming up constantly, every day. I slipped and fell one night, broke a toe and lost a toe nail. I had to move out after 2 weeks of putting up with not only that, but a whole slew of children living upstairs (landlord said he had one child) whose endless running and jumping started at 6am every morning, who went unchecked and would frequently try and sometimes succeed at getting into my apartment and going through my stuff. A hell hole. He fought tooth and nail, used every deceitful trick in the book to get out of giving me my money back, plus the damages incurred by me from moving costs to my ER visit, all while acting like I should be grateful to get the pittance that was my move in fee back. People like this are why tenant laws exist. He thought because I am a young woman, he could make a quick buck and screw me over, but when confronted by my legal counsel, changed his tune real quick, handed over the money, and acted baffled and innocent like I was blowing the whole thing out of proportion. Nothing but a petty criminal, and a low rent one at that. AVOID THIS LANDLORD AND BUILDING AT ALL COSTS! | |
