[07-Jun-2017] This "landlord" is obnoxiously terrible!!! I need more than 10,000 characters to describe his lack of respect and how irresponsible he is. To begin before moving in, I took his word that he would replace the stove and the flooring because there were huge gaps between the wood pieces. He "patched" the floors by adding glue in the holes. I requested a stove 1 week after moving in, and he didn't replace my non-working stove until over 3 months later! From the beginning I had malfunctioning smoke alarms. The fire department was called 3 times and he still didn't fix the system!! To this day I have non-functioning smoke alarms. Just two days after moving in, the ceiling was leaking so bad in my kitchen that it was literally raining. I took videos of it and he didn't even respond. I called him, he didn't answer. Texted, he didn't answer. A few days later all of the drains in the house completely backed up. All of the sewage came back up through the drain tub in the basement (for the washer) as well as into my toilet, tub and sink in the bathroom. His response was that I cant flush any feminine products down the toilet (at the time of move-in this was not even possible because I didn't have that issue!!!). He showed up a few days later to "assess" and he left and said he had to get a part and then never returned. The following night the backup of sewage into my basement happened again. And then the next night again and again.. Repeat this process until over 2 weeks later. He showed up again late at night.. was there for about 2 minutes, said he had to leave to get a part and once again never returned. This went on for 2.5 months until I threatened to not pay for rent and I would be calling a plumbing company and deducting it from the rent.. This is when he finally came to "fix" it during the day.. I got home and there was still sewage and poop all over the floor. Around the same time that the sewage was backing up, the furnace blew. I called him, no answer. Texted him, no answer. The time of year was January, and a heckin' cold winter at that!! needless to say, 5 months later I still do not have a working furnace. It is now spring/summer time and come to find out, none of my windows open! The weeds in the backyard are over my head and the smell/sight is atrocious. All in All, I have no working smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, each room is lacking an outlet for it to be up to the city code, the front porch does not have a railing, which is against city code, the windows don't open which is a fire hazard, the basement windows are blockaded by weeds which is against city code, there is constant water flooding into the basement because he has let the foundation get so bad, there are wires and old cable boxes literally hanging off of the house, gutters falling off, shingles missing. I didn't realize any of the outside issues because it was winter and covered in snow when I viewed the apartment. Now that I have made an official complaint to the city of Rochester, he has served me with an unofficial 3 day pay or quit notice which means pay the rent you owe or move out. Mind you, I have never been late on rent. He is trying to evict me with no grounds to stand on because he's mad that I made a complaint a few months ago. To this day he still has not fixed anything. I warn you.. do NOT ever ever ever rent from this jackass piece of shit. I could go on for days about how incompetent he is, but I don't want to waste any more time on this clown. Please take my advice. He looks like a pretty boy, respectable person face to face but believe me when I say in this case, looks can be deceiving would be an understatement.
