[05-Feb-2018] DO NOT RENT FROM THIS WOMAN - she is a crook... Cecilia (landlord) seemed so sweet in the beginning and acted like she would respect mine and my roommate's space. She REFUSED to provide us with leases (we were idiots and moved in without signing anything), we didn't have hot water, a refrigerator, or a washer/dryer (as promised) for a full 5 days. 4 days into us living there, the landlord moved in a third roommate WITHOUT PERMISSION... This girl ended up being manic bipolar with a prior drug addiction and seriously unstable. My roommate and I moved out after countless attempts to communicate our concerns with the landlord regarding the roommate situation as well as the MANY repairs that needed to be dealt with. Cecilia shut the lights off in our windowless 15-step stairwell to "save money on electricity" even though utilities were included in our monthly rent... Horribly illegal and very dangerous. Not only that, but she would let random handy men into our apartment without tell any of us. One Sunday afternoon, I walked into our kitchen in my robe and there was a man there working on the sink. She didn't tell me he was coming and he didn't even knock when he came in. He just walked in and started working on the kitchen without any of us knowing... As if that isn't bad enough, when my roommate and I decided to move out because we were afraid of the third roommate's instability and also fed up with Cecilia's constant disrespect, Cecilia refused to return my security deposit. I ended up filing a small claim but she wrote me a check for $432 LESS than what she owed me... Instead of going through the stress of court and having to take days off work, I decided to just let it go. This woman seems so sweet and accommodating but she is a liar. Do not rent from her. 770-772 Light St, Stratford, CT 06614 is the address that she resides at and she rents the top floor out as an illegal boarding unit. If you ever see this listing online, stay far away and report it.
