[09-Aug-2018] We sorely regret renting from Karen Cole. Among the problems:

1. Unchecked mold. We thought the upstairs was musty because it hadn't been aired out. Further examination revealed significant water damage under the carpet, and my husband was having respiratory issues due to mold. Her response? To have the floor with its damage covered up with new hardwood. My husband couldn't even go upstairs at all, so we couldn't use the largest room in the apartment.

2. Lack of respect for our privacy. She didn't always give us 24 hours notice before coming, and even when she made the effort, she then came over early and LET HERSELF IN with her key without knocking or ringing the doorbell. In response I started latching the chain when expecting her, about which she grumbled. She also liked to find reasons to come over and check up on our housekeeping.

3. We thought the place was cute and vintage. In fact, it's just old and shabby. The dishwasher wasn't set in, instead requiring to be rolled over and hooked up to the sink. The stove threw a ridiculous amount of heat. The air conditioning units had yet more mold.

If you don't mind a old apartment in desperate need of renovation, a nosy landlady who wants to come and go as she pleases, and growing mold, this apartment might work. Otherwise, steer clear!
