[29-Apr-2021] We constantly received pushback on issues with the property. Carbon monoxide detectors were not provided so we purchased our own, and after reporting gas leaks with the gas company, we had to fight to have the issue addressed by our landlord. There’s a terrible rat problem on the property which the landlord never addressed as he believes it’s not his responsibility to do so (thousands of rat poops under the house, and the toxic smell has seeped into the house through the crawl space). When there is an issue that he cares to address (ie a broken back gate exposing our belongings to the alleyway), it takes him 3 months to fix it or makes us find our own services to take care of things. On top of all this, after asking him again to address the rats, he told us he was going to sell the house, so we needed to leave. We have only lived here 8 months and are being kicked out during a PANDEMIC. Devastated and riddled with stress, we broke the lease early with permission because we were tired of dealing with him not fixing anything (we believe this was a tactic of his to get us out) and signed a new lease. Shortly after saying we were leaving, we discovered he had listed the house for rent again INSTEAD OF SELLING IT. The price of rent increased several hundred dollars. We are good tenants who he displaced during a national pandemic because he no longer wanted to maintain the property and wanted to make more rent money for less work. I’m sure he’ll do this again. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
