[25-Apr-2022] Colin Wall is the grandson of billionaire Vancouver real estate developed Peter Wall. I never interacted with Colin as he used at first a property management company and then an individual assistant to manage all the dealings of his properties.
When I first looked at the rental suite, I asked the rental agent if the owner had any intention to sell as I wanted to be a long term tenant. I was assured there was no plans to sell and I should be good. On month 11 of my 12 month lease, I received an email from his assistant that he was putting the suite up for sale. Colin is an investor, not a landlord - he rents basically to mitigate lost revenue from empty homes taxes.
His assistant also did the most ridiculous move out inspection I have ever experienced in 20 years of renting. The apartment was spotless but she used completely reasonable wear and tear as a reason to withhold my damage deposit. The inspection probably took 25 mins and she basically took a magnifying glass out to find a speck of dust in a drawer and claimed the unit hadn't been cleaned properly. As a heir to a billionaire, Colin's attempt to bilk working people out of a few hundred dollars is pretty laughable.
Long story short - issues with the unit will be fixed, you'll never deal with him directly but whoever he hires will operate according to the RTA however don't expect to live in the unit for very long and don't expect your DD to be returned even if you leave the unit basically untouched. |
