[15-May-2023] One of my worst experiences with a landlord. I found a bedbug in my apartment and she was going to make me pay for an exterminator to take care of my apartment and the other apartment in the building. After two inspections the exterminators verified I was not the source but another neighbor was and she is now making him pay to fumigate the whole building. Shortly after the bedbugs incident I had a carpenter ant infestation that she kept pushing off taking care of, I was unable to live in my apartment during this time and she wasn't going to fix the window with the rotted wood the ants were living in she was just going to spray so that ants could just move back in eventually. I also came home one day to see her husband walking out of my apartment to drop off a package, there was no advanced warning of her coming to my apartment or even entering it without my permission. Any time a maintenance person needed to come to the apartment o would usually get a few hours notice while I was at work and they would give the maintenance person the code to my door so they could do the work without me being there. The downstairs neighbor also has multiple plumbing issues that the landlord is not taking care of, as far as I know it's gone over a month with him not having a working bathroom and a collapsed ceiling from a water leak and she has still not taken care it. The apartment had one working smoke detector when I moved in and no CO alarms. The front porch to the house is not sealed properly so is constantly leaking into the basement where the landlord just had pails overflowing with the water it's collecting and cardboard soaking up the over flow. She also does not follow the lease when it comes to plowing the driveway, only once in the two winters I've lived there dod she have a plow truck plow the driveway, even though she owns the plow company in the back yard. Ultimate I feel like she only cares about collecting money and doesn't care about the state of the apartments so fixes everything as cheaply as she can and tries to make the Tennant's pay for whatever she can. When I moved in I also found out that she had the door code the same for all Tennant's living in the building, I found this out after I came home from Christmas break and found my downstairs neighbor had let himself into my apartment and stole a bunch of my stuff. I would advise to not have Christine as your landlord as she really doesn't care about the Tennant's or the property, if you decide to have her as a landlord is make sure you do a full inspection of the property and have her fix everything that's wrong with it before moving in as she won't do it once you move in |
