| [24-Aug-2009] My friends and I rented this 4-bedroom house from Jeremy in the Manayunk section of Philadelphia. Not only did Jeremy lie on the lease (claiming the house was built after 1978 and thus lead paint was not an issue, even though the house was built in 1900), but whenever there was an issue with the house he ignored our phone calls, emails, and text messages. The sump pump in the basement was broken; Jeremy never fixed it. So, the basement flooded practically every time it rained. Jeremy did nothing about the water in the basement for a whole week the first time it flooded. He suggested that my roommates and I take care of it, and offered to bring us a mop -- there was at least 2 inches of water in the entire basement at that point. The house had major electrical problems, but Jeremy refused to pay for the repairs needed to fix them. Instead, he offered to split the costs of the repairs with us. He is incredibly cheap and does not care about the health or well-being of his tenants. The only time we were able to get him to promptly address problems with the house was when we threatened legal action against him and filed a complaint against him with the city of Philadelphia. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS LANDLORD!! | |
