COMMENTS (1)
[06-Mar-2011] When I moved in I asked the landlord to clean the gutters that were full of compost (they had not been cleaned for years). My concern was that because the basement walls had cracks, overflowing gutters would cause water to sit against the foundation and potentially flood the basement. For 4 months she did not clean the gutters even after repeated written reminders. Then the rains came, the basement flooded and damaged $4000 of my furniture in the basement. She refused me any form of compensation. I am now in the process of taking her to court. She does not maintain her property at all, I had to caulk the badly leaking shower to avoid further water damage. Many items of building not up to code (furnace, wiring etc.) Also, she refuses to have an answering machine, voicemail or email. A tenant must keep trying to reach her by phone, or mail a letter. But she is extremely annoyed if you don't phone her back at the time she specifies. Should not be a landlord, period. I will update this review later regarding the outcome of compensation for the furniture damage and return of rent deposit when I move out.
