[04-Oct-2014] do not rent from this man. he is the worst landlord ever. he lives next door and is completely overbearing. he micro manages everything about the property, including but not limited to: when tenant mows then lawn, how often tenant mows the lawn, housplants allowed inside the property, how often the bathroom needs to be cleaned, how many guests are allowed in the property at one time, how often the driveway is plowed, how often the walkway is shoveled, etc. I am not exagerating, this man will literally attempt to fine you if your grass is half an inch overgrown. he is always on the property doing maintenance. he has is written into the lease that he may do this anytime of the day or night, and he does. he does not respect your privacy. one day i woke to the sound of mens voices outside of my bedroom window. i looked out the window, and there he was with a contractor, measuring the deck. no notice of this. his rationale is that since he did not need to enter the property, he was not required to give me any notice. which is true, but he could have given me notice as a courtesy. but he does not do anything out of courtesy. he is severly autistic. he will not make eye contact with you, and his pattern of speech is very uncomfortable. he does not know how to communicate like a normal person. any interactions with him are tense and uncomfortable. he will make every attempt to control every aspect of what happens in the property to the outside of it. read the lease very carefully before you sign. he has written it to give himself as much control over the property as legally possible, and he will use that control. and you cannot get away from him because he lives 20 yards from the property. it is really creepy. he basically lives in the garage. he does not work, so he is always around. he has not wife and no family. his life is maintaining this property. he has a tractor and he rides it around the rental day and night doing "maintenance." i couldn't stand his creepy presence in my life 24/7 anymore, so i had to break the lease. i had just had the propane tank fille, $800 worth of propane. he refused to pay me for the propane, and made me sign an agreement that said i was relinquishing it to him. i was glad to do just that so i could get out of there. i cannot stress enough that you read the entire lease, and question everything, before you sign. he has written the lease, again, so that he has as much power and control as possible. he does not do this "in case" he has to use that power over a non compliant tenant. it is written that way because he actually wants to control every part of the property, and get away with it. and he does just that. he has no respect for your privacy. he has no respect for the tenant. it is his house, as far as he is concerned, and not your home. i would never, ever rent from this man again.
