[05-Nov-2014] Hello, I wanted to post this review so others don't have the same bad experience I did. This is my opinion in my words. My lease started 11/1/13 and ended on 11/1/14. Upon move in I gave a full deposit of $1150.00 and two months rent. Heat and hot water is included, told I controlled my own heat, shared laundry with some storage. I will state only the things I experienced while living there. I had 3+ yrs. of excellent prior landlord references, the only reason for moving was the property was being sold. First, you don't control your heat, thermostat is disconnected. The only heat you will have is when the owner who occupies number 3 is home, she (Rosemary Larou) turns the heat off when she is not there.You will get cold, got down to 62-64 degrees in the winter. The water smells terrible, and when the owner or other tenant in number 2 uses it, you will get scalded in the shower. Bathroom sink leaks as well as the ceiling when it rains. There is also water leaks above the living area window. Both leaks will puddle up on the floor and ruin your property. I asked if it was quiet and was told that it was very quiet, not true, tenant in number 2 will wake you regularly between 1-2am. Outside rain gutter above your only entrance does not work, the water lands directly on your steps and will build up with ice, very hard to remove and keep safe. Landlord will spy on you whenever you exit the rental as well as listen to your conversation on her staircase that is next to your living area, all the time! You will not be given 24hr notice if any work is going to be done. Several of my possessions were broken because of this. Your front door does not lock securely, you can open it with your car key and the other door blows open all the time because it doesn't latch at all. The landlord also has no respect for your property, do not store it there, it will get ruined! Here's the kicker, even though I was quiet, respectful, ALWAYS paid my rent on or before it was due, if you ask for any repairs or anything, she will state "Just Move Out Then". Like moving is an easy thing to do, really? I fulfilled my lease, gave my 30 day notice and ran. I took this rental because I wanted to be by the beach and it's very hard to find a rental that excepts dogs. It would have been better if I had lived in my car, LOL.Went by there today, she already has a rental sign up, no repairs done. Also stairs going down to do your laundry are very unsafe. Also, she will blame you, that you must have done something to cause any problem that arises. When I rented the property, the ad stated new stove and frig., frig was fairly new but very tiny. I bought a new full size. Stove was 20yrs. old and stopped working after living there for 3 months. When landlord was told, I must have done something to it, one person using the stove a few times a week, took 2 months to get a stove. In my opinion Rosemary Larou, owner/landlord is a bad landlord and should not be a landlord. Her other tenant in number 2 is a friend, so she does not care if she wakes you up with what appeared to be fighting, but not sure.
I took photo's of everything to document my case. In case she tries to keep my deposit, I will be taking her to court. The rental was filthy when I moved in, she did not clean, and clean when I moved out. Renters Beware. Thank you for taking the time to read this, C. Cook
