[12-Jul-2016] I did not have a good experience with this landlord overall.
One issue was with communication. There were a few times that she was prompt in dealing with issues with the house, such as when the dryer did not work, and when the wi-fi went down, but communicating with her was more difficult on the whole. For example, there was a mouse infestation in the house, as well as a bat, and I was ignored on these matters. Furthermore, she was paranoid, and was very quick to make accusations in the times that I have spoken with her. This made for an uncomfortable living situation.
Another concern is the vague wording on the lease. The house was advertised as a month-to-month rental, but she said that the wording on the lease meant that she did not have to adhere to this. If you do rent a property from her, make sure that everything on the lease is clear. It's also worth noting that she denied me my right to have a proper walkthrough of the house when I moved out, and returned part of my security deposit more than 30 days after my tenancy ended.
Lastly, I do not feel like my privacy was respected, since she has come into the house on some occasions with no prior warning. Additionally, she lives next door to the rental property.
The property itself is decent, albeit old and creaky. However, I did not feel comfortable living there due to the aforementioned issues.
