[21-Mar-2022] I would not recommend any one rent from this lady unless they did not value their peace and sanity. This landlord was completely unreasonable in all aspects. For some strange reason, the landlord requires a $15 overnight guest fee and claims that the fee is for a utility upcharge. This is completely unreasonable considering that the tenant is responsible for half of the utility usage which averages to about $70 per month. The landlord was also really sketchy about showing me the utility bills, which I thought was completely reasonable, considering that I was responsible for half of the utilities. The landlord is also overly sensitive about the outdoor trash can. The landlord threatened to not renew my lease due to maggots being in the outside trash can. Another instance where the landlord was being unreasonable was the parking spot that is included with the rental. The rental comes with a parking spot and the landlord instructed me to do whatever I wanted with the parking spot as it was included in the rent, and I was paying for it. A couple months into the rental period, the landlords next door neighbor complained about having a hard time to park, even though none of my vehicles were outside of the designated area for my parking space. After the neighbor complained, the landlord instructed me to park one vehicle inside of the parking spot, even though my vehicles were inside of the designated parking spot. The landlords reasoning was that the neighbor lets her use his lawn mower and that she did not want to ruin that relationship (speaks to the character of the landlord). The landlord also expects that you are cool with the next-door neighbor being involved. Ultimately the landlord was just a lot to deal with, the reason that she did not want to renew the lease was because she wanted to have in person meetings regularly and I did not see a need for us to have in person meetings on a consistent basis. The meetings were never really about the rental, and they were mostly about the landlord just wanting someone to talk to. This would probably make sense if the rental space was shared, however the rental space is in the basement and the landlord stays on the top half of the house. This lady is not looking for a renter, she is looking to for a friend and someone that she can control. This lady was very passive aggressive throughout my entire rental period, the comments that she made were completely out of line and completely uncalled for. This lady is also very annoying and will continually call and text your phone about things that are not necessarily concerning the rental. Also, the lady is just very demanding about everything, she does not want to compromise with anything, and she will make this very apparent stating that she is not like everyone else that rents their house out and that she can afford her mortgage without having to rent to anyone. I would not recommend that anyone rents with this lady, it is not worth the stress and headache.
