[27-Oct-2010] whatever you do, do not rent from marvin burk. He was really nice while trying to get us to sign the lease, but it all went downhill after that. He will trap you in a corner and tell you stories you don't want to hear about.
Sure he came and fixed the pump in the basement that was backing up raw sewage, due to it not being cleaned out in the past 10 years or more, but when we tried to move out he tried charging us for the general upkeep of the house.
He is a liar and a shady business man, and a hoarder. One of our main requests when moving in was to get all of his junk out of the basement and he agreed, but it never got done. He also parked his car in our back yard, and would always be roaming around in our private space.
When moving out, he sent us a list of itemized damages almost 2 months after our move out date. It included charges for keeping a compost pile in the back yard, the 2 times he came and snaked the drain in the basement, 2 broken chairs that no one has ever seen and probably weren't even there in the first place, among other atrocities.
We went and got help from a local student law firm, and they helped us at least get back our security deposit from this jerk, but its been almost 3 months since moving out. Please....do yourself a favor and find a better landlord, learn from our mistake.
