[04-Aug-2014] Lauris Robinson is the definition of a slumlord. He was very unprofessional while showing us the house, talking about how we (my roommates and I) were going to "f*** all the freshmen" at the school nearby. Looking back, I am in awe at my stupidity. How could I have even considered renting an apartment from a man who was referring to a mess in the back hallway as "c**t f***ing bullsh**?" The house itself was a dump. It looked like he had set an m80 off inside of a giant off-white paint can shortly before showing the house. Everything was covered in white paint, including the doorknobs and power outlets. Speaking of power outlets, only one of the three in my room worked, and I use the term "worked" loosely. It ended up frying my laptop cord, rendering it useless. The windows would rattle at even the slightest gust of wind, and at least two blew out of their frames during my lease there. The ceiling caved in in the bathroom, and when I called him about it he told me: "that's the point of a drop ceiling" and refused to fix it. The point of a drop ceiling is for it to fall in? Seriously? I can't make this up. Moving out was the worst, however. I spent an entire day cleaning he house, including scrubbing the floor with his trusted Mop-n-Glow that he raved about. After inspection on the last day of the lease (which he did while stomping around on the freshly cleaned floor in boots that looked like he'd trudged through a swamp on his way over), he shook my hand and thanked me for being a good tenant, promising me my security deposit back in full. A few hours later, while on my way to work, he called me screaming about how the floor wasn't "shiny enough" and that I should not expect my deposit back. Confused, I asked what had changed since he had seen me and he simply yelled some more about how he could tell I did not use Mop-n-Glow (even though I had shown him the bottles in the garbage outside) and hung up on me. I found out later that week from my roommates that he had kept their security deposits as well, totaling over $1000. Do yourself a favor and do not rent from this snake.
